It's just not my week... :-(

sad
I stayed home from work today, because I couldn't face going in so soon after losing Phantom.
This morning, I walked all three dogs about 11 a.m., then let them all run around in the house for awhile. When I got ready to steam clean the carpets (grief therapy via housework), I put the two younger boys in their crates so they weren't underfoot.
About 3:40, I went back into my room and found Quincy, the English Setter who was part of my first rescue transport back March and who I adopted in late June, limp and unresponsive in his crate. He was breathing, but barely. I scooped him up and put him in the Trooper, called the clinic, and set landspeed records from my house to Caring Hands. There are at least two school bus drivers wondering what the flash of white was that passed them on the road because they were going too slow.
On the way there, I'm pretty sure he stopped breathing, about five minutes before I got him to the clinic. They did all they could, but they couldn't get his heart started.
So today I lost another friend. Happy silly Quincy... one of the sweetest dogs I've ever known, who I unfortunately didn't get to know for nearly long enough. :-(

He was a sweetheart, and he totally sold me on English Setters. He'll be very much missed, but at least I know he had a few good months of knowing he was loved.

It's just so unfair. He was such a sweetheart... just a big goofy boy who never met a stranger and who loved everybody... people, dogs, cats. This shouldn't have happened so soon. :-(

I'm surviving... still doing Therapy Via Housework, so I haven't been in chat. I bailed on work again today. Was supposed to have two interviews for my open position, and there was just no way I was going to be coherent enough to do that.
I met Steve and Amy for lunch (potato soup and salad and rolls at O'Charley's), which helped, because they both carefully didn't mention Quincy or Phantom, so I got a distraction and a bit of a break.
Back now and dealing with clogged drains and a dryer which appears to have just burned out its motor (we've been expecting that for the last few weeks... I was hoping to avoid buying a new one 'til I move, though). Great timing, since it's a whopping 39 outside, which isn't exactly conducive to drying clothes or sheets outdoors!
